Trees-Paper
There is a common household product we use everyday that is actually responsible for the destruction of the world's virgin forests...
Toilet paper!!!
In North America alone, tissue and toilet paper production is the direct source of the destruction of some of Canada's ancient boreal forest. On average, each individual uses nearly 50 pounds of toilet paper per year, which is a huge increase from only thirty years ago.
The biggest name brans like their paper to be the direct product of virgin forest fiber, resulting in 1 1/2 million acres of Canada's northern forest being clearcut.

If you had never thought of all the animals affected by the vast deforestation occurring...
Caribou, Lynx, Bears, Wolves, and multiple bird species lose their homes as a result of clear cutting.
Did you know that if your family alone replaced ONE roll of paper towel with 100% recycled towels, we would save up to 544,000 trees (Greenpeace Canada).
Although recycling is great, think about how you and your family can replace tissues and paper towels with washable cloths...a little change goes a long way!!
